I was on the john petrucci forum cause he is sweet. What the guitarists over there do is pretty cool. They break off into teams of 5. Somebody makes a 5 minute drum track than each guitarist on the team gets 1 minute to play over the drum track. than they mix them all together and judge them from each team after they are all submitted. would any of you guys be interested in doing this with me? |

Is this a chops/solo thing or a groove thing?

one of the guys will lay down a bass line and the other 2 can solo over it each for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
or each of us can do some grooving and each get 1 minute.
The guitarists do it strictly as solos, but we are bass players and we groove.
I DO NEED HELP DOING THIS THOUGH.
Note that i would like assistance making the drum tracks and such.
But basic set up, we make a drum track and send it to person #1 on each team. person #1 on the team records his/her 1 minute than saves it over the drum track and sends it to #2. than to #3. than we turn them in for a final grade. we would obviously have to discuss things with our team about what direction we wish to go and such. |

We create several drum tracks. each group of 3 ( or more if enough interest) will decide as a group which track they want. The group "leader" or "groovemaster" will put down a line to go with the drum track, Then each member of the group is given a 1 minute space to go butcher and crack out the chops.
OR
1 drum track is made. Each group is given said track. As a group they must create a groove/solo, similar to idea one, but only one track is made. |

Does anyone have an FTP site that we can host these files to? It will be next to impossible to exchange hi-rez audio files via email, and if we're gonna do this with small lo-fi MP3 files my interest is gonna disappear really quick.
