I enjoyed this month's issue of Bass Player with Marcus Miller on the cover. I enjoyed his interview and thought his comments about busy Gospel players gave voice to what I'm sure many people think. The thing that turned me off a bit was the SWR Redhead review. The review really had nothing to say about the Redhead except put it in historical perspective. It just felt like the interview was a sort of payment for having a Marcus Miller cover story since he is now an SWR endorsee. I know BP is a business, but little things like the SWR review really strain their credibility, IMO.

Marcus endorses Fender, even has a signature model. Marcus now has a signature model amp by SWR, who is owned by Fender, whom Marcus endorses. Fender, as a conglomerate of music businesses, is very hard to avoid reviewing because there is an endorser on the cover.
Does it make sense to NOT review SWR based on who's on the cover?

I say this as a truly huge fan of Marcus from the beginning of his career (he is only two years older than me.)
I will say the review did mention that the Redhead now has a tube DI.
