Refinishing a New Guitar

Sign in to disble this ad
Long story short...

I would like to build my girlfriend a guitar, making it pink, and turning into a sort of 'Hello Kitty' guitar (I just threw up a little). I'm not at the point where I could build an acoustic, so I'll have to buy one new.

So I'm looking to buy a smaller acoustic guitar (on account that she's short), and refinish it pink. Would this be too difficult of a project? One with too big of a risk or completely ruining the guitar?

I understand that with acoustics, the finish will alter the tone and overall sound of the acoustic. Am I wrong?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Also, I'm posting this on TalkBass because the members are helpful and reliable, also because I've already got an account.

Almost certainly more than the girl is worth.

I've seen a bunch of inexpensive smaller pink acoustics cheap on Amazon.

It's gotta be a hugely more sensible call than the one you have in mind.

I think I've already paid my own weight in gold after three years with her. Being a sentimental kind of gal, she only wanted to learn if it was on something I created. Therefor, buy a smallscale and turn it pink .
