Reggae drum patterns/counting

I'm currently doing research on reggae rhythms. I'd like your (reggae lovers) feedback on a few different issues:

How you count your bars. Do you hear the bass drum/snare fall on the 2 and the 4 or the three of each bar?

Regarding rhythm terminology: do you equate "steppers" with "rockers"? How would you define these two terms?

What about "boof 'n' baff" or "one-two" (if these terms mean anything to you)? What would you call the drum pattern from, for example, "Night Nurse"?

I definitely have my own notions regarding these questions, but I'd really appreciate your take on things.

I don't know much about drums but I have built beats around Night Nurse. I would describe it as a straight forward dub/roots reggae beat, with an occasional one drop. Still, the way I do it is I find a beat that I like and then match the hits until I got something close and go from there.
