Ok I got a regular guitar question about chords?

Right now I'm learning e7 and I cant remeber if I need to strum all the strings for E and then for a7 it would be the a string and then the rest of the strings? for the chords I am leanring. and I am not sure how I can explain it this better.

Yes, there are 2 ways (maybe more) to play E7 at the first fret, both ways you can strum all 6 strings if you want to because each string (note) whether it's "open" or fretted is a note of that chord. For A7 it sounds better to make the A string the bottom note like you said. You could play the bottom E string open and that's part of the A7 chord, the 5th, but that's called a 2nd inversion and it just doesn't sound very good. The root note on the bottom sounds the strongest in most cases.
