Anyone know of rehearsal spaces that rent for around $150/month around the Back Bay area? |

We showed up one night to find cops teling everyone they had an hour to clear out. The "owner" was a squatter and was harbouring a chop shop in another section of the building.
Good luck, that's a low price for the area. |

You could always use jamspot in Somerville. http://www.jamspot.com/ |

BTW, when I said $150/hour I meant for a shared room, not our own exclusive room. |

I use JamSpot for my band because we only practice 2-3 time a month and they have amps, a keyboard, drums, PA, and mics all set up for us. We just show up and practice. |

Good luck. |

I agree with Brian that rehearsal spaces in Boston have been squeezed and have got replaced by Boston condos or other new construction due to escalating property values. Forget such spaces at affordable rates now! You’ll have to look more towards the edges of town, maybe closer to Cambridge or near university campuses. You might get some success. Also, let me know where you ended up finally…

The sound museum offers ghetto style abandon buildings where the rats and mice have taken over eating your cables after they have gotten done knawing on the left over pizza boxes that all the derlicts have left behind in their jam rooms. Can you believe you will pay $550 a month for this?
No wonder if you bite for it, your forced to split your room with another band just to be able to pay the rent, and thats if you feel comfortable running the risk of your equipment being left under another bands care while you aren't there NOT!
The only two first rate places we have ever rehearsed at are both situated outside of the Boston city limits, so you will have to drive out a little bit, but probably well worth it because you will get all the things you can't get in town, like cheap rent of about $275 bucks a month, some well kept properties where the bathrooms actually work and are kept clean, real 24 hour security and 24 hour access, and no derelicts hanging around outside your room door who don't even belong in the building and have nothing to do with any of the bands.
I know this may sound unattainable around Boston, but they do exist: Greater Boston Rehearsal Space Studios and Practice Rooms Rehearsal Space | Music Mill Rehearsal Studios Space Complex Massachusetts MA and New Hampshire NH and Boston Practice Rooms |

Big place, rooms have a/c, cargo elevators to the floors for easy gear hauling, but it's not in Back Bay, it's a few miles away. A lot of people look to spilt rooms with other bands.
