rehearsing in small room

Any of you get annoyed that when your band rehearses in a small room you really have to crank the amp fully and full treble just to hear yourself? the resulting bass sound isnt very appealing but the only way you can hear yourself. the low frequency of the bass just cant make itself felt when playing in a 15 x 10 foot room with 7 foot high ceilings. especially when the lead guitarist turns right up.

"Should I quit my band" threads should be in the Band Management forum.

If you're in a small room and you have to turn up, the guitars are too loud. Wear hearing protection and get them to turn down.

i never experienced this until recently, because the previous people i played with were sensible enough to know that an 80 or 50 watt guitar combo is major loud, but requesting a volume lowering seems to be about all you can do

yeah, i've done that till i'm blue in the face. i do wear hearing protection and I'm the only one that does.

I dont like having to wear earplugs because they really do affect your ability to feel the music but those damn guitards just don't get the message. Things start off at a decent level and i find that during the course of a rehearsal it gradually gets louder and louder and people progressively turn up.

Smaller room = less volume needed from everyone, your drummer included.
