As it relates to DIY repairs or building...

I ran across this while researching a Samba / Linux thing today. After pondering it for a few miutes I decided it spoke to some of the DIY'ers here . So for your further amusement and / or edification ...

“All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that the parts you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if you can’t get them together again, there must be a reason. By all means, do not use hammer.” — IBM maintenance manual, 1975

lol... I got a kick out of that. Thanks! You'd never get away with comments like that in today's "treading on eggshells" customer service environment. Bring it back I say!

Reminds me of my guitar player who still has an old box of solder from the 50's, swears by the stuff. The instructions begin by saying "use a good solder iron". As if to say, if you don't know what a "good" solder iron is, you have no business owning this product.

My father always said (with a grin) "I have no respect for a man who can work without a hammer and a screwdriver".

Some days, I think I know what that meant.
