Replacement Necks: Fretless

It would be more pro to do it this way I figure. I defretted my Yamaha, but it's not perfect. I was wondering where you could buy replacement necks that just so happen to be fretless.

If a Fender neck will fit your Yammy, a Warmoth neck might work.

Yeah, that was my next question, are necks (fairly) universal? That is to say, is it probable that I could put a Fender neck on my Yamaha?

Necks aren't anywhere close to being universal. Different neck pockets, screw patterns, scale lenghts, etc. Try to contact Yamaha to get a new neck, or perhaps Warmoth or Moses has one that will work.

The Swingline necks don't bind up as much.

WR: Your sig still cracks me up everytime. never change it ever.

I might just try to fix the neck. It just buzzes at the 12th "fret" on the G.

A better solution would be to never play that "fret" again

Ha, I should have left one fret in the bass just to blow some minds! like the 16th fret on the D string.

Here's some Info on obtaining Yamaha part.
To order parts, you can call the Yamaha parts dept. at 714-522-9958.
You will need a credit card. If you do not have a credit card, you will
need to find an authorized Yamaha Guitar dealer and ask them to order
for you. If the part you are looking for is not available through our
parts department, get the part # and call NTS at 714-901-7222. This
company bought some of our old parts and might have the part you are
looking for. You can also call a parts company called Stewart McDonald
at 1-800-848-2273, or try www.allparts.com or www.warmoth.com

If you still can not find the part you are looking for, I suggest that
you look at some of our current model guitars and match it up with what
you are looking for and see if you can find something that will work....
than call our parts dept again and ask for the part off of one of our
more recent models.

Thanks again for playing Yamaha Guitars.
How much more standardized can you get? I wonder if they even read my email.
