Report From My Trip to Guitar Center

So I was in the neighborhood of my local GC and I decided to stop by and maybe try out some gear. I walk in and there are a bunch of freaking guitards of all shape and sizes playing every van halen, zep, and ozzy lick that they know. So i am PO'd immediately. Then I get to the bass room and there is 1 guy in the middle playing a MB102 pretty loudly for all to hear, and making it unenjoyable for me or the other few bass players to hang around. So I jack a guitars 1/4" and seat and find a corner with a Hartke 5500 and a Avatar b410 neo. Plug in a EB ray and, no sound. Try the cable, the bass, the amp, the cab, and...No Sound. Couldn't get the stupid thing to work. So I make my way over to the main section in the bass room, and try to start playing on an Acoustic BH600 and a B410 cab. Then the MB guy just keeps getting louder and some other idiots come in and start playing crap metal on an Ampeg combo. Good Lord, I forgot how much I hate GC. I don't know if I'll ever go back. But I know I will. I think next time I go, I am going to chop the guitards friggin balls off with my 5K custom Warrior and some friggin jazz. Anyone else had a lovely visit to GC lately? If you're in ATL I was at the UnPleasant Hill store.

i mean, i know it can be annoying, but i don't see how you can walk into a store called guitar center and be upset to hear people playing guitar.

GC in San Antonio

I'm an old guy but I'm a lawyer lucky enough to have alot of discretionary income. I've gone in there w/a roll looking for specific, expensive items but wanted to shop between brands on a number of occasions and never been able to get anyone to wait on me. I've walked around and walked around and walked around looking at stuff and the staff were always too busy bsn w/each other and the music from the DJ section was blaring so loud it was mind-numbing.........and they just ignored me. I've found stuff on my own and stood at the counters for 5 or more minutes before I could get anyone to take my money. I'm just used to it. They'll jump all over a teenager w/long hair and tats but ignore the old dude who has gray hair but who can buy almost anything in the store. I keep thinking they'd think maybe I'm a dad looking for something for his son and jump on me...........but, nope! No dice! It's them or Sam Ash here in San Antonio, and when I go in Sam Ash they greet me at the door and ask if they can help.

The Southfield Guitar Center is quite a nice store. They will probably not have everything, but overall I have had decent experiences buying stuff fromt them.

The best GC I have ever been to is the one here in Knoxville, we have a severe lack of guitards. The bass section is pretty good, could have a few more high end Ibbys and Peaveys, and maybe cut back on the Fenders, but the staff are very friendly and I love to shop there.

What I love is having to give my name & address in order to pay cash for a $3 cable, and then the girl at the door has to inspect my receipt.
