I have a red Ibanez GSR200 and a Nemesis N8 combo that I'd like to unload. What would my best method be for easiness to revenue ratio? Sell it to Guitar center, Craigslist, eBay, or something else? I think I'm just going to sell it to Guitar Center unless they are just going to try to rip me off. Are they?

Just my .002 worth.

good luck.

It's not a system that's going to work in your favor. They also don't buy a lot of brands back. Ibanez and Eden they will take, however, that is if they haven't changed the list since I worked there. |

If you want to sell here, it might take a while, but it will sell and you'll get what it's worth. Craigslist has been largely unsuccessful for me, unless I'm looking to buy something. |

| More like 50% of what they will sell it for. I worked at a large chain that will go nameless. Say you have an american p bass that sells for $1000. They want to sell it for $750 so it will move, they will give you half that, or less if they can get away with it. Trading it doenst make a difference, unless its something they wouldnt buy, but take in on a trade in. Lower end beginner gear doesnt get bought alot of times. Both sam ash and guitar center own their own beginner brands that they make more money on than anything they might buy in. |

Go on ebay's completed section, figure out the price your used stuff is selling for (SELLING, not just LISTED for), and then put a craigslist ad up now. THEN take pics for peeps who might want to see them, and also try to sell them up here.
NEVER trade into GC unless its alll about laziness, which is valid. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: May 2000 Location: Berkeley, CA | | | I've had great lucking selling things on the SF Bay Area CraigsList. What I'd recommend:
--As others have said, do your research for pricing--here, Bassgear, eBay. Price it to sell--at or a little below what items in similar condition are selling on eBay. At least on CraigsList, a lot of fools make the mistake of putting the price they paid new as the selling price. It never sells, and they keep reposting for weeks or months on end. A quick nickel beats a slow dime, and you'll still be getting a lot more than you would on a GC tradein.
--Post pictures with your ad that accurately reflect the condition of your item.
--Provide links to manufacturer's spec pages, HarmonyCentral reviews.
--Provide your phone #, ask others to reply with theirs and a good time to reach them.
--State your terms--what's included, is price firm, cash only, no shipping, etc.
Using this method you're giving potential buyers as much accurate info as possible upfront. I've found this cuts out a lot of tire-kickers and stupid questions, and makes the possibility of a quick sale at a fair price (for both buyer & seller) very likely. |
