Unhappy RF interference... at least, I think it is...

I seem to be getting some of this in some venues - characterised by a VERY high pitched whine in the background, almost but not quite out of my audible range. Low level but irritating, and more noticeable when I've got my pedalboard plugged in, presumably because it's pretty much like using a longer cable, right?

Any ideas? I'm not using any sort of power filtering at present, would this help? I take it I would need RFI suppression as well as spike/surge protection, is this correct?
And what about those little ferrite core things that clamp on cables? Do they do anything at all? Where should they be used if they do work?

Sorry for the questions, questions, questions... any help much appreciated.

Bill

a power conditoner should help if it's RFI..
those little ferrite core things that clamp on cables should go on your lead cable going into the amp, close to the amp input.
