I know that you can't copyright chords or keys, but the similarities seem to go beyond that. Listen to the mp3, it's interesting. What do you think, plagarism or coincidence? |

This (RHCP) seems to go beyond Harrison's unintentional "borrowing." (BTW, it was the court that found George had plagiarized who characterized it as unintentional.)

| | | | Those two songs are sufficiently different that any accusation of plagiarism is ridiculous. |

Also - would RHCP be stupid enough to plagiarize the main single off their huge new album? I don't think so.

I'd like to know if the "radio presenter" was just trying to get his show some ratings or if he actually cares. The article makes no claim that any action will be taken or if there is any reason to, in the first place. Quote: |

I dont' think that it's plagarism, the Tom Petty song is really sped up, the bass isn't the same, the lryics aren't that alike, most rock drumbeats are super-similar, the song after the intro is completely different.
And who the heck is that guy to smash RHCP for stealing an intro? The most famous goddamn intro of all time, Stairway to Heaven, is COMPLETELY stolen from the song "Spirit" by Taurus. |

You guys are right. This isn't really a formal accusation. Just a douche behind the mic being a douche behind a mic. I hate DJs. |

But seriously - so what? |

Play that back to back with Status Quo's "Lonely Man". Same song with different words. Ok the police siren guit intro is also diff, but thats it! The Angels had a massive hit with it in Australia. So much so that its still an Oz Rock Classic today. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
