RIP Lowell Kiesel - Carvin founder

Passed away yesterday at 94. Another innovator in the mold of Leo Fender and Les Paul. I hope he is welcomed by them in the afterlife. I could have started this thread in any equipment related forum here, which is a testimony to Carvin's breadth and depth of excellent products.

One of the lesser-known but influential guys. His company has certainly made a good name for itself.

Really? Wow.

Just curious... where did the name "Carvin" come from, anyway? I always thought it was the founder's last name but apparently not.

The Carvin name came from his two eldest sons - Carson and Gavin.

If you look carefully at the company, they have by far the greatest selection across multiple product lines of any music company that has ever existed.

Guitars
Basses
Amps
Sound Reinforcement

No one can touch them. Only ones imo that come close are Fender and Peavey. Fender's sound reinforcement offerings are minimal at best. And Peavey does not have the depth of guitar and bass selection.

RIP. The man made good gear, and managed to sell tons of stuff by order only. Even today, that is something pretty awesome.

Wow! 94 that is a good run. R.I.P.

He founded a unique company that has done business in a way that most of the big guys gave up on.

R.I.P. Mr Kiesel.
I still love my 92 LB-75! I've never owned any bass for a longer period of time.
