RIP The Mars Volta

http://consequenceofsound.net/2013/0...he-mars-volta/

Honestly, for my taste I started to tune out during, and turned off after Bedlam.

But a sad day never-the-less.

I have been revisiting TMV the last few days. I still loved deloused and frances the mute.

Def~ I love Amputechture as well.
Not the best album, but has some of the greatest sections.

Figjam 01-23-2013 10:15 PM

What are your favorites from that album?

I wonder what Juan alderete is going to do now. I know he has been working on some things with Deantoni the drummer.

zachoff 01-23-2013 10:16 PM

De-Loused was such an epic album that nothing else they did came close. A great group of musicians, nonetheless.

hearnow 01-23-2013 10:18 PM

Tetragrammatron and Meccamputechture and of course Juan's intro in Day of the Baphomets

Juan is doing this cool site : Pedalsandeffects.com if you haven't checked it out, project wise, I'm not sure.

hearnow 01-23-2013 10:21 PM

@Zach, yeah that's what I meant by "sections", same goes with FTM to an extent too, amazing music in there, but nothing could ever be as cohesive, and crystalline form as De-loused.

Figjam 01-23-2013 10:22 PM

Ya I have watched every pedals and effects video, haha.

take the veil cerpin taxt is still my favorite the mars volta. that song changed the way I saw music.

Figjam 01-23-2013 10:25 PM

and lets not forget the tremulant ep

At least we still have the albums.

This is a bummer. I kinda tuned out when Octahedron came out. Not my thing. But still one of the greatest progressive fusion bands to ever come out that's fur sure.

fmoore200 01-24-2013 01:12 PM

At the drive in reunion ftw!

5stringfindlay 01-24-2013 01:14 PM

I got into TMV kinda late (circa 2006) but I really took a liking to De-Loused. I think it's their best album, IMO. For the life of me I couldn't listen to Frances The Mute.

Here's hoping Bosnian Rainbows has as much success.

zcwilkes 01-24-2013 01:18 PM

Ahh, Sh*t...

I tuned out when that album was released as well, by then my interest in new music was waning, and I wasnt following any bands any more.

Frances the Mute and an eighth of mushrooms changed my life for the better!

You made pizza while listening to Frances the mute? :hiding: :sly:

ugly_bassplayer 01-24-2013 02:36 PM

Sad day, I'm a huge fan of The Mars Volta. I pretty much like all there records.

Lackey 01-24-2013 02:42 PM

Bummer! Honestly apart from Octahedron I dig all the albums, the most recent one too. Talk about a prolific band, new album almost every year it seemed for a while. Was a fan of ATDI before, hope they can all keep going with their new project(s)..

Did you know Omar wrote all the parts for Frances and then recorded each musician playing them individually and nobody ever heard what it all sounded like together until the tracking was done? Talk about compositional skill!
