RMS vs Avg Sine

Sign in to disble this ad
I just ran across this forum in a thread that was discussing RMS rating vs Avg Sine Rating.

I joined because I saw some mis-information being spread but when I came back and activated my account I can't find the thread.

I also didn't read the entire thread a the issue may have been properly addressed.

The point was that some had made the statement that RMS and the Average Sine are the same and questioned why a manufacterer would use a non-standard rating.

Actually RMS and Average Sine are not the same value.

RMS = 0.707 Peak
Average Sine = 0.637 Peak

I'm not a muscian but have an engineering background.
