Has anyone tried the Road Runner gig bag from Musicians Friend or Guitar Center?
The premium one looks nice. I want one with a lot of padding and large pockets for storing crud in. I seem to be the default swiss army knife. Cords, picks, guitar strings, capos and all that stuff the guitarists do not always bring.

Search for Access Cases and look for a stage 5 bag... locally, they are under a hundred bucks and great... My fav, but not sure if i want to dish out 200 is the Incase...

I don't know about long term, but I'm the type who slings stuff around and generally uses and abuses his stuff, so the bag has definitely bee put through its paces, and it's still going strong.

In retrospect, I wish I'd bought a hard case, but back then and right now, it was and still is really good for the money. I doubt it'll ever let me down, unless someone decides to drop a cabinet on it (in which case... I'm glad my bass is a bolt-on!)
I'm very pleased with my $40 investment, but I'll still eventually get a hard case. Still, it's the best gig bag I've ever used or seen.

Looks like it's a good mix of gig bag and softshell. WillPlay4Food just got one of the regular deluxe bags and, while I can't say anything about it's potential longevity, it was a really nice bag.
Access Bags look great but you can't buy them online or in any major stores- only in small, individually owned retailers. Tried contacted Access Bags about getting a double bag and they asked me for names of local retailers they could contact to see if they'd want to carry their bags They wouldn't send one to me either. Suffice it to say I can't get one of them. Not a great business strategy. |

| | | I bought one with my new bass. I believe the premium one? (39 bucks at GC). It seems to be holding up fine for me. I can fit all the stuff I need for a jam or lesson and hopefully soon a gig . I think that the bag is a good investment for the money if you need a bag. Probably not the best out there, but gets it done for me! |

It's held up really well considering. But on the inside the bottom strap button has worn thru the inner lining and the foam padding and now the strap button rests on the hard plastic "foot" that's attached to the outside of the bottom of the bag. No holes in the exterior material yet. The two plastic handles have cracked with age and useage and I had to wrap them in black duct tape but otherwise she's held up really well. All the zippers still work perfectly. I have gotten my money's worth. I love the storage capabilities as well as the straps. And I like the flat bottom. My Jazz basses don't make the bag tip to one side when the bag is standing up resting on the bottom.
Not sure if I'd buy another one but it's worked out well for me. )-(

The gig bag itself only has one pocket, but it has a soft briefcase that attaches to the front. I use this to hold all of my accessories and repair gear, but I don't always take it with me. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
