Rock Band 3

SO my buddy just sent this to me about Rock Band 3 having MIDI inputs.

http://www.rockband.com/zine/rock-band-3-announcements

He knows I hate these games but he thought I'd be interested to know that they're trying eliminate some of the criticism that they are killing the musical ability of a whole generation of kids by adding MIDI capabilities to the game. It looks like you can buy their cheap plastic MIDI "controllers" or you can use there MIDI box and plug in your own drums or keyboard which is cool. And they mention that they should have support for real MIDI guitars and bass by the time RB4 comes out. If that's really the case then I could see this as a decent way to learn new covers. I'm not sure if a bass-MIDI converter box will work on this version though. Thoughts?
