Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame 2009 Inductees

Sign in to disble this ad
The performer inductees are:
Jeff Beck
Little Anthony & the Imperials
Metallica
Run-D.M.C.
Bobby Womack

Early Influence Category Inductee:
Wanda Jackson

Sidemen Category Inductees:
Bill Black
DJ Fontana
Spooner Oldham

The 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performer inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twenty-five years after their first recording is released.

In addition to being honored at the April ceremony, each inducted artist is commemorated at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland Ohio, which serves as a monument to rock and roll’s impact on our culture. These inductees will be honored – along with previous year’s inductees and hundreds of other artists – with an exhibit and film that serve to tell the story of modern music.

I heard that some of the voters wanted force Metallica to wait until the 50th anniversary of Cliff Burton's Death before they could be inducted - as punishment for St. Anger.

According to the link, Cliff and Jason Newstead are also going to be inducted.

I wonder if they'll let Dave Mustaine in too?

Still no producers introduced that actually have been part of changing the rock&roll sound, such as Todd Rundgren. Sight. Maybe sold concert tickets is the key to getting in there nowadays.

The fact that it took this long to induct Jeff Beck is just flat out insane.

When Madonna, was inducted for the live tribute portion of the show they had Iggy and the Stooges, playing covers of her songs.
The sonic dichotomy was...memorable.
Just some hometown boys having fun with a hometown girl.

I find It absolutely criminal that they would induct Madonna and not Yes or Rush, or any other progressive groups for that matter.
they changed the way rock and metal was played.

makes me want to tear someone's eyes out.

I'm happy that The Who is in though

Rush will never get in. Jann Wenner/Rolling Stone never liked them since day one, even though they claim otherwise as of late.

Incredibly sad, and proof that the HoF is as much of a joke as most (all?) awards shows.

Yeah, theres something very wrong with Madonna being inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame. I like Run DMC too, but they have no business being in there either, so I hope they lose out. Its assanine to include people that dont play rock into the place.

Sorry, but as a huge Rush fan I won't have anything to do with the R&R HOF. I won't even visit it. And there are thousands like me out there.

Nor are the Moody Blues. To ignore them, Chicago, Rush and Yes is extreme arrogance. This is rock history being denied.

They have ignored the Stooges as well.
