He uses his hands, that's where the tone comes from, no matter what Roger Waters plays through it will sound like Roger Waters...

Well, to emulate him, first you need 1x David Gilmour to play everything for you on the record

Seriously though, I know that he uses RotoSound Jazz Bass 77 strings...and I'm fairly certain Ashdown amps, but I'm not sure what ones. Fair bet would be the most expensive...

In the 70's he used Hiwatt amps with Martin bass bins & a Vitavox horn with an S3 driver-then to a JBL 2482 driver. He had 2 of these rigs -1 on each side of the drum kit. Then he went to a Phase Linear 700 custom built 3 way setup & by "The Wall" added Martin "Philshave" midrange cabinets.

he mostly plays with a pick and seldom with his finger, the index finger only mostly (in a weird funny manner)

Hey, Karma Police, believe it or not he actualy doesnt use the most expensive, far from it! He uses what looks to be a MAG 810 combo, similar to the ABM King Combo which is what he apparently uses on the website even though the picture shows him playing through the MAG 810, I saw him a few years back in Hyde Park and he used an American Deluxe black P Bass going through what looked like an ampeg 410he and a 115, but because he plays with another bass player it was confusing, however I know he usually plays the MAG 810 combo, you can see it on the Live 8 vids on youtube. Wow what a rant!

A bright P-Bass with flats and a pick, and you are 95% there.

For anyone who does this sort of thing you can download a DVD shot at Rehearsals/sound check for the Wall tour. You can see and hear him in all his un edited glory.
Its a great DVD.

Roger Waters P-bass

Roger uses the same P-Bass from the Floyd in the 70's. RotoSound round wound 77's thru Ampeg SVT's. SVT 6's on DSOTM and SVT7's on The current The Wall. Ampeg 4x10 HE cabs for both tours.

The MAG you see in the Live 8 pics belongs to David Gilmours band. Roger uses Ampeg now for the past 10 years or so.
The Ashdowns and HiWatts are packed up in the warehouse.

The new RW signature P-Bass with brass nut is so close to Rogers original that it's unbelievable. Seymour Duncan Basslines pups kik and punch.
One of the very best P-Basses available.

I disagree. Everything David Gilmour plays on a bass will sound like Roger Waters.
