RS IS A TOTAL JOKE! | That was my first thought! AL at 98??? I know he tends to get overshadowed by the other two in the band but cmon. Some of those high on the chart are, um, surprising. |

It is nice to see the blues guys get their due tho.

Oh, and James Hetfield is a better guitar player than Dimebag Darrel?

I'm sick of this magazine. How the hell does Eddie VanHalen go from 70 something in 2003 to top 10 7 yrs later. He didn't do anything in the last 8 years to get a jump like that.
And no Steve Howe?? OMG.

A list such as this is too subjective to rate. I don't agree with Clapton at #2, and I don't agree with Keith Richards at #4. I take exception to leaving Steve Howe off, as well as Rock Nielsen, and a number of others mentioned above.
I do think they got #1 right. I know it seems easy, but far too many people make that mistake.
Jimi Hendrix is THE Greatest Guitar Player of All Time, and I don't care how many guys could play faster, or with more feeling, or whatever else case someone wants to make. The fact is, Jimi Hendrix approached playing rock guitar in a new and innovative way, and inspired generations of players; he excelled at a number of styles; his leads and his rhythm playing were exceptional for the era, and in many ways, for any era, and he pushed the boundaries of available technology like no one before or since.
Add to that the fact that he was a pretty nice guy; wrote great songs; had a real genuine poetic quality that wasn't put on, and could say "sock it to me one time" without ever sounding dated, even today, and I am proud to call him my biggest rock hero.
So I'm going to go ahead and be thankful for Jimi Hendrix at number one, and dismiss much of the rest of the list.
Albert King at #13? That's not cool, man.
Peter Green was a better blues player than Eric Clapton. Discuss.
