RPM Challenge 2008 - Record 10 Tracks in 29 Days!

Greetings Lowenders!

I just wanted to give a shout-out to the Record Production Month Challenge for 2008. For those who do not know of this event, it consists of writing and recording a 10 track and/or 35 minute album from scratch strictly during the month of February. There are no awards beyond the gift of having a reason to put music first for a whole month, which hopefully results in completion of a new, unique album in a mere 28 (or 29 this year!) days.

It is the third year of the project and I participated in 2007 and had a blast. Over 800 artists completed albums last year so hopefully this year we can finish around 1000 this year! Upon completion each album is uploaded to the RPM Challenge website for everyone to listen to and remains there forever, so it is a great way to be heard and to discover other great independent musicians!

I challenge anyone here who has been thinking of a new side project or who has considered doing some solo material to sign up and get productive. I'll be doing it again this year and I would love to have some other TBers in the ranks as well!

My band and I are in it to win it! We're about half done so far. We decided to take a slightly different approach to song writing and see how they come out. We started with our drummer just letting loose some ideas he had. Then came the funky low end, guitar then vocals. It's been working out pretty well with about 20 minutes of material nearly finished and about 30 in the works. It'll probably get scaled down near the end of the month but this project really opened up the flood gates with us. Anyone else out there taking this on?
