Rude ebay sellers..

I simply sent this guy an FYI that they sell for $249 at musicians friend, and he left me with this response:

3)Get one from Musician's Friend, Sam Ash if you can. they are sold out. It's been Squire's most successful selling guitar.
4) I sell worldwide. I only need one person to buy it. All of my most highest sales come from overseas.
5)You are 4 feedbacks all as a buyer. I suggest you stand on the other side of the counter before spouting off to a seller with over 1000 transactions since 1999. There is thought behind this auction. If the market thinks my price is too high or unreasonable, they wont buy it. If somebody will, then more power to me.
I dont even know what to say. I followed up with an "Ok dude, chill i was just pointing out the 50% markup, thanks for the response and i get them for $229 from my local dealer"

This reminds me why I hate dealing with ebay sellers. Nothing is worse than a seller who acts in this manner. I mean, once i payed for an item and they never shipped it, claimed they shipped it, and when i withdrew my paypal money, they slammed me with 2 negative feedback's.

They all sound the same when they get abusive. But to be rude when asking questions, amazing.

I knew a dude once who left an incredibly rude response for every positive feedback he received on eGay. It went something like:

h0tt0tr0t: awesome item!!!! good eGaying!!!! A++++++
FatBastard: I can't believe this guy bought this, I ripped him off and then made fun of his hairstyle.

It was funny stuff, and the only worthwhile thing that ever happened with eGay.

Why did you waste your time? Just let the guy sell it for whatever he wants. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Did you honestly think that he didn't know the retail price of this bass?

True. I put the item on my watchlist because in all reality, if i can get them at 50% off list, then i can make a ton of money putting DR Black's and Fake Covers on them.

"Bass is brand new never used" ? "1000 transactions since 1999"?
He's trying to do this for a living. Can you think of 1000 things you own or have owned that you would auction off?

I know there are millions of transactions everyday that go off without a hitch, but I just won't have anything to do with them buying or selling.

It is fun to see some of the scams and wild Basses y'all catch on there though.

I was in a shop once and pointed out that an offer was not actually cheaper but more expensive than RRP - needless to say they weren't interested...

I wrote to "Trading Standards", never heard anything....same situation really!

I'm an ebay seller. Almost 4000 total feedbacks since 1999, with a 99.9% positive rating. I've sold countless musical instruments, everything from flutes to banjos to guitars to snare drums, almost all either used or vintage. Many bass guitars too.

It's not scams and sellers getting high prices. Very few sellers try to scam anyone, IMO, and they don't last long if they do. Sometimes an item sells for less than it's true worth, but it gets shipped out just the same.

And this seller can list it at whatever price he wants. If he gets $375, good for him.

He is nice after all but first impressions are key.

That's like 1 1/4 1 1/2 per day. Do you do this as a sideline or like one of those commercials on TV where you sell out of someone warehouse?
Just curious.

I think he was unduly rude and should really have just ignored your mail if he didn't like it; but then you could have ignored his listing and maybe he was having a bad day - who knows.

Well he sold it for $375 so one can only assume that he knows what he is doing and seems to be doing it very well.

I understand why the seller was rude with you. Who are you to tell him how much he should sell stuff for? You were wasting his time. If I had gotten that email from you, I would have simply added you to my blocked bidder list, and deleted your email.

As for "But to be rude when asking questions, amazing." I don't see where you actually asked any questions. You just pointed out that you could get it cheaper from a different source. He managed to sell it for his BIN price. So, what purpose did you actually serve?

Just like threads here on TB, if you don't have anything good to say, just don't say it.

The seller was very rude, but like mentioned, you had no business contacting him to tell him for what you had to say. If you think the price is too high, then just move on and look for something else.

If I stopped and contacted every seller that I think is either a scammer, misinformed, or overpricing an item, I would have to do it 24/7.

And after all, he did have a valid point and sold the item for much more!

Something is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

End of story.

unfortunately, what you did was the same thing they put a rule in TB's classifieds for, namely suggesting a price is to high and all. Not saying he responded in a nice fashion, but has every right to respond that way unfortunately.

do your homework and buy low. That is all ebay is good for.

Just curious.

I used to do it more or less full time. Now part time, but I almost always have at least a few items on there (not always musical instruments, could be anything).

There is nothing wrong with being an ebay seller. Some make it sound as if ebay sellers are vile, immoral crooks, foaming at the mouth & rubbing their hands together at the thought of getting your money. That's far from the truth.

The truth is, the vast majority of ebay sales are completed without a hitch. Buyer satisfied, gets the purchased item quickly and in stated condition.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply there was something wrong with it, I know some people make an honest living at it and like I said earlier, there are millions of transactions taking place without a hitch.
My point about him wasn't what he was doing, I should have been more spacific. I don't think he's a Bass player. I think he bought it to turn it over.

I've wanted to tell TB sellers here on the classifieds that they will not sell the bass for what they are asking- but I don't because it is none of my business and it won't change their mind.
