Look how many winners are absolutely huge at the point in time they win, but then disappear completely soon after (Christopher Cross anyone?).
I also noticed that lately they have attempted to make up for this by giving "career" Grammys.

His problem was getting popular at the same time as video...and he's not the most exciting thing upon which to look. | Christopher Cross is a vastly underrated musician. This guy is a great vocalist, guitarist, producer, etc. check him out live and you'll be blown away. |

Hey, I'm not dissing the dude.... but he was kinda of forgotten about, one must admit.
People dismiss that stuff as being kind of terminally unhip, but it was well written, well recorded and well produced. Unlike almost everything that is popular now.
