i just started checkin birthdates on my favorite band members. dio 66, sabbath in their 60s, the who 60s, deep purple 60s, nugent, hagar 60s. i remember these people in their youth. they try so hard now, voice not as powerfull, out of breath, bottles of water instead of jack, workin out rather than bustin up hotel rooms. where did the years go?

But yeah I agree, it's sad that all these musicians that represented youth and rebellion are grandfathers now. It's especially saddening to see people like Ozzy, Pete Townshend, and the guys from Zeppelin. It's not only their appearances, but the fact that I'm going to outlive all of them (unless a truck hits me or something). I can't imagine how much it'll suck when Geezer dies (knock on wood).

None of these guys are my cup of tea, but if they're still making any kind of music at 60, 80 or 100, right effin' on.

Clapton is a cool old rocker. The Rolling Stones and Van Halen are geriatric cases pretending to be young. Miles got older gracefully (well- gracefully for Miles). Why can't some of these rockers?

I have to admit that i will sometimes refrain from going to a gig as i believe that the singer is past it. I would rather remember them the way they were.
The exceptions for me in the last couple of years have been The Eagles and Yes. Both bands still $hit hot and both lead singers still top of their game. |
