samson wireless problem ....

Sign in to disble this ad
heres another post that i dont know if it goes here or not .

anyway , i have a samson stage series wireless . my problem is that at a useable stage volume it has an extreme amount of distortion . turning down the reciever takes it away , but also puts it in a setting where there isnt enough volume . i opened up the belt pack and found two small adjustment pots . im wondering if one is for the beltpack output ???? any help is greatky appreciated . i will try calling samson tomorrow ...

Yes, one is for controlling the transmitter's output.

Samson manuals are online
http://www.samsontech.com/products/p...fm?prodID=1684
And they have forums
Also, I've used their support and they got right back to me.

Which model...

I have the Samson Series One and I still use it occasionally. I was told that unity gain is at about 1:00 o'clock on the output level knob (on the receiver). I have no trouble driving my Eden WT500B to full output with it at this setting. Above that it does start to distort more, so I know what you mean there.
Of course, if you have a different model this info may not be useful to you, but most equipment of this type is designed to be at or about unity gain at 12:00. Maybe there is a problem with impedances or your amp input gain? I don't use the 12dB pad on the Eden, because the receiver output is just enough to use the Eden's (input) gain knob at 12:00 without needing to pad it.
I would speculate that one of the internal trimpots is for input sensitivity and the other for output range, so experimenting (1/4 turn at a time) would probably work out fine. Good luck.

FYI, all things regarding wireless systems belong in the Misc. subforum.

Carry on.
