Satin Thunderbird Neck

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,

I just finished up satinizing my Epiphone Thunderbird neck. I kept comparing the original gloss finish of my T-Bird with the natural finish of my Fender J-bass and decided I would not let the gloss finish slow me down any more.

I grabbed some super fine sand paper and went to work.

My Thunderbird neck flies now!

i saw your link form the TBIRD thread Delta, any before and after pics?

you know my EpiBird is not my #1 Bird to pick out of the Birds I have, but I never really thought about the finish as a hindrance to playing it, considereing my #1 and #2 Birds are both full gloss.

mine is a 1999, and the finish on yours may have been applied differently than this older one--- I dunno...

also mine is one of those that had a basswood with mahogany laminate over the body, so who knows what they were doing back then ( and now a days )...
