Hi.
It's been a while since I've been on a live concert for various reasons and this one was well worth seeing.
Everyone probably knows Deep Purple, but DAD, who knows them? Outside of Scandinavia or Europe that is.
Even their bassist,
Stig Pedersen won't probably ring any bells, but his bass(es) sure will. I wanted to take pics of his instruments, but the cell phone camera was acting up because of the strong contrasts so I only got a few crappy ones of some of those fine basses

.
He started the gig with the non-reverse acrylic Thunderbird now with LEDs, but after a few tunes switched to this, complete with tail-lights:
After that it was the time for his most famous bass here at TB:
Followed by the famous Rocket bass and this rather nice looking "ripper":
Their show was great as always. Straight, pure, no nonsense rock, just like it should be. Couldn't be better, exept for the location. An Ice-hall isn't the best venue for rock bands like this, big rock clubs are much better IMHO.
Purple was..., well Purple

.
The "old farts" looked old and the newer recruits slightly too young

.
Even as they really aren't. Less rock'n roll lifestyle on the road I guess.
The music was great though, save a few rather annoying "wank-fests" which fortunately didn't last too long. Morse is a great player, but for me faster doesn't equal better.
Even more annoying was his take on the "Wasted Sunsets" intro, solos and fills. I do understand that Blackmore is Blackmore, and exact copying isn't something that an artist wants to do, but it was too different to my taste.
Glover was great, did a couple of solos as well and really seemed to enjoy himself. That was great considering that the venue probably was only 60% filled of the full capacity. The price of the tickets weren't too bad either (55€), 10-20% less than usually with bands of this level.
Paice was great as always, not all the older drummers have aged as well as him

.
Gillan looked and sounded really tired at first, but picked up speed as the evening went further. They played almost two hours, which everyone appreciated a lot.
Regards
Sam
