Saw Geezer Butler from Sabbath last night....

Went to Heaven and Hell last night. Geezer Butler up close, he is the father of hard rock bassists! I was shocked at the speed of his playing. He's walking all over the bass like a lead guitar player!

If you guys can catch them on the current tour, go and park yourself on the floor and watch him go!

I saw Him in N.Y. at Radio city. He absolutely Rips! Although I love many kinds of music and Players. Geezer Is the reason I stated playing bass guitar in 1981.

Geezer is amazing isn't he.

When H&H was here last month I was in the stands for most of the show but once H&H started I got onto the floor (security guard let me go onto the floor.) He is amazing, I never got into Black Sabbath too much (I'm just a young one, 17 y/o) but man watching him play was great. Indeed a king of bass players!

Did he play that Christmas-y looking bass at all? When he was here he played this bass with green and red strings.

Geezer is the number one influence in my rock/metal playing. He has an amazing knack for "soloing" when Tony Iommi solos... but in a supportive sense. I do that a lot in my band, it adds another dynamic level of interest... and it's fun. He's the master for sure.

I was at the 1st show at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. Geezer hasn't missed a step since the 1st time I saw him ('bout 25 years ago). One of the greatest bassists to ever witness. Ronnie Dio's voice was friggin' spectacular, perhaps the best I've ever seen/heard him. The original lineup is totally responsible for modern heavy music and deserve all the props in the world and more, but the music from the H&H, Mob Rules era & the later, lesser known Dehumanizer is still some of my all time favorite metal. If you have the chance to catch this lineup live, do so. It's not often you get to see a band of this calibur.

I just saw them on 10-4-07. Geezer was incredible! That man played perfect and did not miss a beat. The band was tight, I havn't been that pleased with a live band in a long time.

BTW----- does anyone know what Geezer uses for effects on "Sign of the Southern Cross"....?
