Saw The Stooges

I have met Ron Ashton and his brother "Rock". At times they used to rehearse or just come over and party at the band houses we lived in in Ann Arbor.

One particular night (1979 or so) I walked out of the bath to find a very tipsy Scott (Rock) Ashton stumbling around with my '66 Gibson Hummingbird. Wearing only a bathrobe, I was finally able to coax it out of his beefy hands...only to walk into my bedroom and meet Scott Morgan (Rationals, Sonic's Redezvous and others) playing my Rick 12-string. I had to be to work at 7AM. But then the keg showed up about 1:50AM with about twenty other people...So it went while living in Ann Arbor.

So it was particularly gratifying to see The Stooges with the original lineup minus the late Dave Alexander. Now with the ever capable Mike Watt on Bass.

I had seen Ron Ashton's band; "Destroy All Monsters" play Stooges songs (they also rehearsed at my old rental house), and I've seen Iggy do Stooges songs with other bands. But it just sounded right finally to see them play together in front of a sell out crowd at the FOX Theater in Detroit.

The opening band featured Scott Morgan singing...so it was a reunion concert on a few different levels. A great show!

Anybody else seen the Stooges on this tour?

My only regret:

Rickbass (RIP), man I wish you where there to see and hear it.
