The word 'Funk' gets thrown around far too much! You hear it all the time, like 'funký' interior design for example.

Since when can you get down to drapes?

I agree though. The word funk is way overused.

If the fact that some website with bass tabz has Maroon 5 categorized as funk is enough to make you upset, I would recommend more fiber in your diet.

I had a long conversation with a fellow bassist/co-worker, and we agreed that the best description of what Primus does would be "Acid Funk Metal".

But I think I'm deviating from the true intention of this thread....

Actually a friend of mine is all about them and early on they had a pretty funky bassist. I wouldn't call them funk, but they had some funky bass grooves.

I didn't think they had an actual bassist, i've seen some of their DVDs and all i could see was the drum/bike guy, the dancer who doesn't talk, and 3 or 4 singers

On Wikipedia, they are classified as "pop/rock" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maroon_5) and I don't remember any basslines that were particularly inspiring from a single of there but i will have to hear them again. I could be wrong.
