My music class in school is making a CD with everyone performing on it.
I'm supposed to perform a solo piece. I only started learning recently.
Any suggestions for good songs that would sound well on their own and more importantly not be too advanced?

I like mostly rock and indie music. I think I'm playing Otherside by RHCP with a guitarist.
I really like RHCP but I think any other songs I record should be a in a different genre or style.

How about playing the melody Mr. Sinatra is singing on one of these?:

Frank Sinatra - Fly me to the moon

Frank Sinatra - Come Fly With Me

If Frank isn't your thing, just pick any well known song whose vocal melody catches your ear, and learn how to play it on your bass.

Yeah, that's a pretty good idea. I might try that.

Moondance by Van the Man...definitely a song that a bass can carry and make sense without a guitar. Also a song that you can make as simple or as complicated as your skill level allows.

That would be a change in pace for most of my music class. Good choice!
