My number one bass needs to go to the guitar doctor. I do my own set ups, and I know the last guy I took a bass to has moved - so I don't have a guy.

I need somebody who is good with the wiring part of things and is qualified to find and fix a problem with the ground - I'm sure that it's not grounded properly. You know how it should quiet a Fender bass when you touch the strings (because the bridge is grounded) - Well it doesn't work on this bass. This one, you have to touch the tone knob to make it quiet. So for whatever reason, it's grounded to the tone pot.

I need to know who to take my bass to in Seattle or the surrounding area - I live in West Seattle.

Thanks!

Hey Matthew, I'm in West Seattle too.

I've yet to have something that I needed a professional to do, but Mike Lull is on the east-side and I've heard good things about his work. A simple grounding issue might not require that kind of attention though.

Dan Wilson in Gig Harbor is excellent. His shop is called All Star Guitar, and it's right down on the waterfront. He builds basses and guitars also.

Dan is a great guy, really knows music and instruments, and has always done awesome work for me.

+1 on Mike Lull. I've taken my Sadowsky in to him as well as my MIA Jazz (had extensive work done to make this as close to Sadowsky as possible). Mike and his guys always seem friendly and do good work from what I've seen so far. I'll be taking my '68 Tele Bass into very soon for some work....
