Selling a bass advice

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm selling a bass and for a long time no one reacted to my adds.

A couple of days ago someone offered 100 euros less than what I'm asking, and since I'm eager to sell it, I'm arranging a meeting for him to test it etc.

Now I just got a message that someone else offers 100 euros more than this guy.

What do I do?

Tell him that someone offers more money and put him on hold?

Yeah, if someone's offering to pay more, tell the other guy you got a better offer. If someone really wants it, they'll raise the amount they're willing to pay. You can just say you'll sell it if the first guy offers more money, and if not, you'll get back to him if it doesn't sell to the second guy.

Tell the guy another person offered to pay your full asking price. He might think it's a trick to try and get more money, but basically, only think about yourself in this situation and go for the one with more money.

I'd show the bass to the first guy, but I would NOT lower my price below the other offer....and I'd tell him the minimum price before I met him so it wouldn't be a waste of time. You might end up still looking, but you won't take a beating on the sale.

BTW - even if you tell him a minimum, if he wants it he'll probably offer a bit less. Then you might decide that a sale on the spot is worth taking a little less...or not. I probably would take it.

Get the most you can for it,unless it's for a friend or family member and you want to help them out.Also-on a side note-take the one with money on hand, preferably cash.I have been burned selling a snowmobile, guy comes and looks at it,says I will be back in a week with the $$.Meanwhile I could have sold it many times over but I honored my agreement to the other guy,and guess what?In a week,he "didn't want it".Ticked me off.I ended up selling it later for waaaay less.A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

Just tell the lowball guy BEFORE he comes out to see it. It might save him a trip if he's not willing to pay the full amount.
