Sennheiser Digital 1000 Experience

I thought I'd post this so that other may benefit from my experience:

I purchased one of the Sennheiser Digital 1000's back when they were blowing them out and didn't start to really use it until now. The first gig I used it on, the battery in my bass went and I had to use the battery from the transmitter. The following week on the second gig I used it and half way through the set it stopped working and so I switched to a cable. I was a little bummed about this because it seemed like a waste but then I did a little investigating. I hooked the transmitter up to a radio instead of my bass using the a 1/4 to 3.5mm adapter in an attempt to reproduce the conditions if any that this thing would stop working and discovered that the 3.5mm to 1/4 cable that was supplied with it had a short in it. Now this was good news because there was nothing wrong with the unit itself just the cable. I couldn't find a replacement cable at my local GC or Sam Ash so I improvised and used a cable with 3.5mm stereo ends and a 3.5mm to 1/4 cable and succesfully did a 3 hour gig with it with no problems what so ever.

I've heard that these units eat batteries however I'm using a rechargeable lithium ion 9 volt battery which would have probably lasted 4 to 5 hours or more though I only tested it for 3 but the transmitter still had a green light.
