Sequencer/midi controller question

Sign in to disble this ad
Alright I researched as best I could. Here's what I want to do.
I would like to play wave or mp3 files (of synth parts) live onstage with my band. I would like to have my drummer trigger the file but I would prefer it be triggered by foot pedal.

Currently I am running Cakewalk pro audio 9 on my laptop (Win-xp). I know I need a midi controller of some sort.

Now am I close here? DO I need different software (Abelton live)? Some other hardware?

Any info/suggestions on this would be real helpful..
