Could someone please help give me some advice on shipping a bass to Puerto Rico! I'm looking for cheap, safe, and as little shipment time as possible.

If it's a bolt-on neck, then I would remove the strings (packing them into a ziplock bag), unbolt the neck, and wrap the neck and body separately in plenty of padding. The two of them separated should fit into a box that will cost less to ship than the "oversized" package a bass often ends up being. That will also get you within the size restrictions for USPS Priority Mail, which is relatively fast and reliable, and get Delivery Confirmation too.

+1. If it's a neck-through, cheap isn't going to happen.

Actually, Puerto Rico is considered domestic shipping for the US, so you couldn't ship it Priority Mail International. It would be Priority Mail or Parcel Post. Based on a 28 lb box sent from Baltimore to San Juan, Priority would be $69.80 and Parcel would be $28.37. Because the size restriction for domestic is 130" (length + girth) a standard bass box should be no problem.

I just based this on a 5 minute search on the USPS website. So you might want to double check my math and accuracy....

+1 Actually I live in Puerto Rico and I have bought two basses online, one was via amazon and the shipping was about $25, the second one was fron Rondo it was $61 but it was UPS second day shipping, plus it was the bass and case. But I think that if you unbolt the neck and ship it in a more smaller box shipping could be around $15. I have received heavy items but in a much more compact box (comared to the size of a bass) relatively cheap.
