Shipping a bass from the US to the UK

Hi all. I know this question has been asked before, but the answers to these questions are not all that clear, at least to me.

I have a gentleman in the UK interested in buying a bass I am selling here.

I have figured the shipping cost to be about $80 (USPS INT'L), but I don't know where to go or what to do from there. I know there are customs fees, VAT, and probably other things I have no knowledge of.

My question for you guys is: "What do I do next?" This is my first time shipping internationally.

i was looking at this earlier, import tax is to be paid on all items with a value of £18 or more, then some other information about stuff then something about £135, but if the tax is less than £9, it doesnt have to be paid. all you have to do as the sender is complete a decleration form, and attach it to the parcel. on it you have to state the value of the items, a description, and if it is commercial. other than that, all the extra taxes are to be paid by the recipient, which can be paid at royal mail branches.

I'm pretty sure that if you contact an international shipping agent, and simply explain your situation to him, he would be able to answer all your questions. After all, that's their business. That's what they get paid to do - day in, day out.

Make sense?

Thanks! I didn't think it was that easy.

It does. Like I said, never done this before. I'll bring it down to the local post office and see how everything will work out.
