Shipping a roadcase - should I use a box?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've sold off an empty Mesa/Boogie bass cab that's built into it's own roadcase, and I'm wondering if it would be kosher to ship it as is. It's already pretty beat up, and is extremely sturdy, so all a box would do would keep it from getting more scratches, which it has plenty of already. I've thought of just slapping a UPS sticker on it and be done with it. Is this a bad idea? How would you feel if you bought something like that on ebay and it arrived at your house unboxed? Thoughts? Opinions?

I once had a road case shipped to me with a box taped to it. I thought it was pretty funny.

i'd want to receive it in a box, unless there was some agreement reached with the seller prior to shipment. i'd discuss it with the person you're shipping to.

Hi.

I once won an auction for 2 very much used TL606s and the seller was a bit upset that I couldn't pick 'em up, he would have to find the boxes etc. etc.

After I made a point that the cabs will most probably recieve a better treatment in the hands of the bus-freight employees than in the hands of the average roadies or in the back of the band van, he was glad to ship them as is.

No problems what so ever, the quality stuff is designed to be handled and shipped "as-is".

Of course this has to be agreed by both of the parties involved.

Regards
Sam
