Shipping to the UK

I'm in the market for an Epiphone Les Paul. I can source one locally here in the UK for £649. I found the same item on Thomann for £461, which seems to be a great price. It has free shipping to the UK also, but I wonder about taxes\duties and the like. Do any of you UK folks know how this works and what (if any) duty\import tax I might be facing on that purchase?

Basically it's about 20% extra you'll be paying (again, IIRC).

Do Epi LP's really cost that much?!

Thomann are in Germany which is part of the European Union as is the UK, so all you will pay is the appropriate VAT and whatever costs Thomann impose for shipping.

I use Thomann all the time, they are fantastic in what they deliver.

I got my Ampeg 610HLF from there for about £555 all in (VAT and Shipping)

Oh, sweet - guess I should've gone deeper into their site before asking the question. Then it's a great deal - thanks for the heads-up from those who've ordered from them before. I'm always a bit wary of doing that.

Yes, this particular Epiphone is their Limited Edition 1959 - comes with US Burstbucker pickups, US hardware and nice (replica) case. So, one of the upper end ones, but beats buying something lower and upgrading...

I've visited BassChat a couple of times - should spend more time over there as I've met folks since moving to the UK that frequent both there and TB...

I'll also add that any deliveries I've had from Thomann have been incredibly quick. Last year I put an order in on a Sunday night, the package arrived on Tuesday morning
