Hi!
I have someone interested in a bass I posted for sale here on TB. I stated lower 48 US only, but i have had several people tell me I CAN ship overseas, and rathe reasily. I am also told that there are a few people in the UK awaiting/received basses shipped from the US via USPS within the past few weeks.
There is a thread on here from May about "No more international bass shipping via USPS" due to new size restrictions. However, I spoke to someone at USPS today and they and I dug thru the depths of forms and restrictions, and found that while I cannot ship a 52"x20"x8" 45lb box to England or the United Kingdom, I can send it to Great Britain. Yeah, I know...
So, the big questions:
Has anyone here sent a bass, packed in a box that was greater than 46" for any one dimension, to England recently?
If so, how please? Global Express is out (cannot exceed 46" for longest of three dimensions), as is Express Mail. However, Priority Mail INternational, with a delivery of ~6-10 days, has restrictions for shipping to GB of 108", and then a max length of 60"...and that means my package could go via this nice cheap manner!
I am unable to hit the post office until Wed (physically disabled), so I would like to go there 'armed" as best as possible to present them with info and desired shipping method...and grab the correct forms, and set it all up.
whew!!!
thx!
