Sorry if I missed a thread on this. Anyone have a recommendation for a gig bag that is a good fit for a SX short scale?
Thanks

I've used the Roadrunner guitar bag that MF/GC sells, and it's a tight although workable fit. I wore the first one out, then bought the one Rondo sells specifically for the SX short scale. It has a little more space, and seems pretty well made for an inexpensive bag. It's less than half the price of the Roadrunner, but also has much less padding in it.

The gig bags I have are made for my guitars. I have hard shell cases for my other basses but they dont work on the short scale.

Rondo seems to be out of stock currently on both the short scale bag and hard case, although for $4 more than the cost of just the bag you can get the pack maker, which also includes a tuner, strap and cord. I have both the bag and the HSC - if I'm taking just one with me it's always in the case, but I use the bag if I'm adding a second for some gig-related reason.

I just use a gig bag made for long-scale basses. Wouldn't do that with a hardshell case, but for just lugging the thing to jams a regular gig bag is OK.

Thanks for the replys. One of the biggest problems with gig bagging a SX bass is the LARGE headstock.

Here's a suggestion:

I've been eyeing one of these for my Bronco.

Mono makes great short scale gig bags, but they cost about three times what your SX does.

You could get a long-scale bag that has a neck strap inside (to secure the neck and the bass from flopping around). This will help with the extra space, which you can take up by stuffing towels in if you're a fanatic about The extra air around your bass.

It's cheap, too!

IF you can get into a shop, look at electric guitar bags.
Measure your bass and measure the bag (inside dimensions).

It took me a while but I found a Fender gig bag that fit my Gretsch shorty. On sale too.

This gigbag fits my Gretsch Electromatic Junior Jet bass perfectly, as well.

None of that "tight at the headstock" stuff, either.

Indeed. I have both the SX gig bag and this Guardian bag. The Guardian works better than the SX bag for both the SX bass and the Bronco.

But is there anything on the market in this size that's a tad better padded? I just spent my year's music-toy budget on a Landing bass (L30P), which is active with the "stacked" tone controls that stick out a little. I would want to protect that. The hard case that comes with the Landing is good but unnecessarily long.

By the way, the Landing is fretless, and is beautifully made. It causes me do this:
