Short of winning the lottery, is there anything I can do ...

Sign in to disble this ad
... to pay off my mortgage & all my debts overnight and create a $$ stream big enough to keep my wife and kids happy so that I can spend more of my life/time making music?

Just something I fantasize about every Monday...and sometimes on Fridays, occasionally on Thursdays, and quite often on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Hmmmm....this dovetails nicely with my "Win the lottery so I can buy one of every bass currently made" fantasy..

Friend of mine is a mathematician, he gave me an analogy about winning the lottery....

I'm in North East Texas. He told me to go out my front door and start placing coke cans so they touch -- when I get to Bolling Green, KY stop. Now go back and pick one can.

Finding the RIGHT can is the same odds as winning the lottery. Lately I've been saving my money.

Gotta break it to you gently - nope, there's nothing you can do. I've been fantasizing about it all my life, too. Ain't happened yet!

Friend of mine used to max out a bunch of credit cards then move countries. He's been doing it for at least ten years now.

Not sure how viable that is with a wife and kids, though.

Apart from that, some combination of a second job + spending less than you earn and investing the difference, I suppose. That's what I'm trying, anyway.

Check with the mortgage company to make sure it will be applied correctly and start paying 1/2 a payment every two weeks instead of one per month. It adds up to two extra payments a year, which will pay it off years early and save you a ton of money in interest. Once you get rid of that payment you can start living large.
Keep a log of every cent you spend for a week or two. You will be amazed at how much you waste.

It won't be overnight, but check out Dave Ramsey. Practical, common sense money management stuff that can help you be debt free in a fairly short amount of time. I listen to his radio show from time to time and people are always calling in to say how they paid off mortgage, cars, etc. rapidly and now have zero debt!

Which can are you looking for?

Since you are asking.............
Pick the child that you can live without..you know, the runt of the litter (can't pull oxcart, somewhat dodgy around loud noise, that one). It may be the wife.

Then, go to Disneyland and pray that by chance something large (due to the park's negligence) falls on the child/wife. I hear that they pay out quite well and quickly in order to keep their image.

You will have both the money and the horrible life experience needed for creativity of dark, melodic blues songs and you'll have some street cred for your bio. Win win (sort of).
