Shortest Lived "Famous" band

Cool trivia thing I was remembering: Had to be RAMATAM which was Noel Redding on guitar and 2 other guys IIRC. Hah! Grand opening was to be at The Whiskey or one of the other Strip clubs in Hollywood in 1979. It was advertised, pumped all over L.A., etc. But then they canceled the show and dis-banded (pun intended). I do think they even recorded an album or at least a single. Dang, I should have snagged one of the poster flyers! Everyone was all excited and of course Redding was still riding his Hendrix fame wagon.
Hmm-I am really digging this out of my memory---I hope I have all the facts straight. Anyone else remember about this?

Is this the band Ramatam you are referring to? I have one of their albums.

Ramatam was a 1970s rock band featuring Mike Pinera on guitar and vocals, Mitch Mitchell on drums, and April Lawton on lead guitar. Tom Dowd produced their self-titled debut album in 1972. Pinera was known for his work with Blues Image ("Ride Captain Ride") and later Iron Butterfly. Mitchell was previously with the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The group also included some former members of Janis Joplin's Big Brother and The Holding Company.

After some changes in membership, the band released its second and final album, In April Came the Dawning of the Red Suns (1973). Pinera and Mitchell had departed from the band at that point, leaving the band's focus entirely on Lawton. The band fractured under the pressure of life on the road and broke up in 1974.

Ramatam was notable for having April Lawton, a female lead guitarist. At the time of the first album's release, female rock musicians who actively played and participated in the band were relatively rare, particularly female musicians who played aggressive lead guitar, as Lawton did. She was favorably compared to Jeff Beck by Guitar Player Magazine.

Wow! I wonder if that's why Redding folded so quick with that name--maybe he got a call from Mitch? Weird weird weird. Thanks for the info.

GTR (1 album and 1 tour) - GTR was a supergroup founded in 1985 by ex-Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett and Yes and Asia guitarist Steve Howe. Other members included vocalist Max Bacon (ex-Moby Dick, Nightwing, Bronz), bassist Phil Spalding (ex-Bernie Torme, Toyah, Mike Oldfield, Original Mirrors), and American drummer Jonathan Mover (ex-Marillion, later of Steve Vai fame).

Still have both Ramatam LPs, first one has it's moments but I'd only rate it a C+ and the second is worse. I haven't played either one for 25+ years, hmm maybe it's time to sell of some of my vinyl The original poster may be confusing Ramatam with Road which was a super short-lived Noel Redding trio that did an LP for Motown

Trio of Doom w/Jaco...only did one gig!

King Crimson "Poseidon" lineup...one live performance on UK television

King Crimson "Lizard" lineup...never gigged, disbanded before the LP was released

Vaughan Brothers...SRV died before the LP was even finished

XYZ - Alan White, Chris Squire, Page & Plant; a rumored 4-song demo, and they went no further.
