Show us your old concert ticket stubs

A thread on "Bassists" about Jack Casady has resulted in Thor asking me to start this thread, as I got things rolling by posting a couple of stubs on there.

How about it? I'll start. I've been going to concerts since about 1970 when I lived in NY and used to go to the Fillmore East. My first concert was actually a club date, Taj Mahal at the Bitter End. My first Concert was at the Fillmore, opening act Miles Davis, second act STeve Miller Band, headliner Neil Young with Crazy Horse. Neil's performance that weekend was just released on a CD in the past year.

Thor and some others on the forum attended some of the same shows I did, it was fun jogging the old memory banks.

I'll start. Jefferson Airplane at Gaelic Park in the Bronx, summer, 1972

And a bunch more. Any other geezers remember Don Kirschner's Rock Concert (and of course Saturday Night Live's parody)?? I went to one but absolutely don't remember who was playing, it was several bands.....late at night....notice start time..... Dylan was at Madison Square Garden, made into an album, Beach Boys Kinks was Nassau Coliseum.....

I have lots of them, and I'll scan some more if you guys all do some, too....

I have in front of me the stub from my ticket to see Level 42 on the 8th of October, 2006. The doors opened at 7PM, I was in Row D, seat 31, entering by Door 2, East.

I also have stubs from Stach, Vai and a G3 shows in my wallet.

Several years ago I framed a collection of stubs and they hang in my rehearsal studio. I'll see if 'unframing' is possible.

The coolest thing to me is the price! Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon tour) for $7.50. CSN&Y (last tour for all 4) for another $7.50. Hard to reconcile, then, that the last show I saw (Warren Hayes) cost me ten times that much!

Subscribe.

My wife cleaned out my junk drawer 10 years ago, and
the packet with all the ticket stubs went. I very nearly
divorced her over that.

I'm going to have to jump start this thread. The problem with most of the stubs is when they were torn the name of the artist and some other info is missing. I wrote who the artist was on the backs of most of the stubs. Here are a few where you can see the artist.

And here is a sort of collage of a few.

The top left one was at Hunter College in NYC and it was Pink Floyd, touring around the time of "MEDDLE" Cool show. There's no price because my roommate had a relative who worked the shows and sent us comp tickets.

The Fillmore East ticket (sorry it's upside down) said "The Moody Blues" on it but the dates were changed and it was Neil Young with Crazy Horse, SteveMiller Band, and Miles Davis. Great show. Great third row seats too.

The Mahavishnu and Dead tickets are obvious. Philharmonic Hall at Lincoln Center and Nassau Coliseum. The Schaefer Concert was Quicksilver Messenger Service. Saw them a few times...

I still have every stub for every concert I have seen. My first was The Grateful Dead in 1994. Since then, I've seen Bob Dylan seven times, Pearl Jam four times, Phish twice, STP twice, RHCP twice, B.B. King and Buddy Guy twice, Ringo Starr and His All-Star Band twice (Both times with Jack Bruce on bass), Bush twice , Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Victor Wooten, Dinosaur Jr., Tom Petty, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Foo Fighters, Toadies, Tracy Chapman, Everclear, Ani DiFranco, Spin Doctors, Fiona Apple and a bunch of others. This past summer, my lovely wife took all of my stubs and framed them for me. All together, she filled three 8 1/2" x 11" frames. I'll post pics as soon as I can. Cool thread, BTW.

Nice collage Ed.

I saw MHO open for 'It's a Beautiful Day' at Carnegie Hall.

I would have hated to have been the violin player in IABD,
nothing like going on after Jerry Goodman to make your night.

Quicksilver. Great Band.

Great idea for a thread! I wish I had a scanner. I've got a lot of early 80's metal show stubs, along w/Genesis, Ramones, Dead, Springsteen.

I couldn't possibly show you all my ticket stubs. They'd easily cover my entire bed if I laid them all out.

Oh you young fartmeister.

My first concert was Robin Trower opening for King Crimson in 73. The next show was Rush (with original drummer pre Neil Peart), Nazareth and Rory Gallagher at the Montreal Forum in 1974. Tickets were about $6.50.

Still, no one else has scanned any tickets. Here's one more

Joe Cocker, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, Fillmore East, made into a famous double album. I believe Ronnie Hawkins was the opener, but it's a bit hazy (The Band's former frontman).

I remember that it seemed that they couldn't possibly get any more people on that stage. It looked like a crowded bus up there....crazy old days...

That Woodstock ticket is GREAT. Thanks for posting those.

The summer after Woodstock, some NY Promoter types tried to stage a sort of copycat event in Connecticut with a big lineup of people, etc. Thousands of kids went up there (including me) to find that there was no show. Don't remember what happened but we went home with nada.

In the summer of 73 there was another one, this time at Watkins Glen in upstate NY. The famous auto race track. A whole day and night of thousands of kids (and a big smoky haze) with the Dead, Allman Brothers, and The Band. Great performances. I have some photos some where of the crowds, people, etc...everyone was so dirty and grungy looking. Ah, the good old days. ......I think.......
