Sick of Bad R&B

Maybe it's because I live in Jersey City. Maybe not. But everywhere I go these days, I'm surrounded by bad contemporary R&B.

Stores, doctor's offices, restaurants, the freakin' bank. EVERYWHERE.

Can't . . . take . . . much . . . more . . .

It's like I'm being forced to chew on a lump of saccharine.

Do I force people to listen to Behemoth or Slayer? NO! Do I force my culture down other people's throats? NO! So shut your g__damn bad R&B off already! I'm just trying to buy a pair of shoes here!

Sheesh!

that's pop music for ya. this sort of pap is going to be looked back upon in exactly the same way that disco music is today. kind of a "i can't believe i used to like that! ", or a "well everyone was listening to it/doing it" reaction.

I actually wrote a letter of complaint to Subway corporate for the music they were playing. It seemed like a mix of club rap and R. Kelly "12 Play" era crap - way too graphic for a family restaurant. My kids don't need to hear that.

Sick of hip-hop too. It's the junk food of the music world. It really is all the same, and it's over-produced, cookie-cutter garbage. The same beats over and over fed into Pro-Tools or Logic and cobbled together with Beat Detective. Freakin' YAWN.

I usually NEVER criticize entire genres, as I don't like to get on that negative tip. But it's so pervasive, man. Hip-hop culture is really forced down everyone's throat where I live. I don't care what people are into, but I don't want to have to wade through it all day either.

Every, I mean EVERY kid where I live is a hip-hop kid. They have no idea how homogenous hi-hop culture has become. It's like the new village of the damned.

yup. and this is the thing i don't get... why do people want to listen to club music while they shop? or take a dump? or work? i don't get it. when i'm at a bar/club i dont' mind listening to that stuff.. it's got a beat, you can dance to it if you want. but like the cook comes in here at 5am and puts on the local pop station and i've got to listen to "it's the ah-ah-ah-alcohol baby" 20 times in the next 2 hours ... i'm at work damnit! pleh
