Silica Gel in case good idea?

I'm thinking about chucking a few little packs of silica gel (desiccant) in the case with my MM SR5.. just to suck up any ambient moisture that gets in there..

This won't harm the bass will it by sucking all the moisture out of the wood (neck, body is fully finished)..

Anyone else do this?

that's the stuff that comes in new shoes right? It should be ok, i think my friend got some w/ his strat when he first got it.

yeah it come in lots of things, electronics goods, shoes, leather, etc etc..

a few in the case could save an unfinished neck in humid conditions..

My SR5 came with a bag of silica gel already in the case. Considering the amount of craftsmanship that MM put into their instruments, I would hazard a guess and say its a good thing.

Won't hurt anything.

However, unless you leave the bass in the case, closed up for months on end, it will have basically zero net effect.

Silica Gel will have to be revived to remove the moisture that it has soaked up which can be done by heating it up. Usually it changes color when it's reached it's saturation point.
