Singing Bass lines

I would be interested to know if any forum members have any experience of joining a choir and singing the bass part.

It occurred to me that in my bass studies there may be some benefit and synergy in playing bass guitar and singing bass part in a choir (not at the same time, I should add).

Any experience or views on this would be appreciated- including any percieved and actual benefits and drawbacks.

Totally different, but I always sing my bass lines to myself when I'm playing; it helps me flow and groove a bit more.
As for singing in a choir, I sung in a musical once. Didn't really glean anything out of it as far as bass guitar goes, at least nothing more than I learn just analyzing the dynamics when I listen to regular music.

Thanks Mush, I thought it might help me with sight reading and to be able to do what you do - learn to sing along (accurately) with the bass line while I'm playing.

Presumably the sung bass line is the same a played one?
