i have officially been a part of a ska band for 2 months with a total of one rehearsal. it has been interesting hearing reactions from other musicians. so what is your take? do you like ska and if so, suggestions on songs to play or listen to. thanks

Ska is pretty good. I like the older No Doubt stuff. I don't know if The Urge is considered ska, but I like them as well.

older stuff is realy good, some of the more recent stuff isnt bad (wev got a few decent bands in australia)

the porkers are pretty good live too, I want to see streetlight manifesto also.

Yea, what these people said.

Pretty much anything off older Asian Man Records stuff.

Alot of people are bored with the old 90's model of ska stuff and the newer mix with hardcore/thrash type songs filled with passion are really hitting it big. The Fad, The Flaming Tsunamis, We Are The Union, Bomb The Music Industry, Fatter Than Albert...

yea i like it if it is more funky reggae as opposed to punky though but still with that little bit of a punky twist. I havn't found any pro bands i realy like but there is a great local band called the tabasco junkies (just came back from seein em)

I can't stand ska, never could. The closest I've gotten is probably Blur's middle era when they used quite a bit of horns and woodwinds. However, that's still not ska by a long-shot...
