| SKB ATA Roller vs. Real Wood ATA

I know the set backs of the real wood ATA (weight being the biggy) but is the SKB plastic roller dependable? I going to start flying twice a month with my bass and am looking for suggestions on the matter. I was going to get the case fitted so I can put my bass in it in the gig bag so I don't have to lug the heavy thing around.
Also, is there any padding in the SKB roller?
